It was a who’s-who in Northside Public Safety at Thursday’s ceremony honoring Representative Chuck Martin for his contributions to Georgia’s fire departments.
Randy Windham, the executive director of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, presented Martin with an award resembling a fire bugle, a traditional symbol of recognition within the fire service.
The award was given to Martin for his work securing $1.7 million to rebuild and upgrade the fire safety-training center in Forsyth, where most of Georgia’s firefighters receive training.
“Every day, 24/7, 365 days a year, there’s always firefighters on duty,” said Martin, as he received the bugle. “We can certainly afford to train and equip them with the best resources they need.”
Martin (R), a former Alpharetta mayor is running for reelection to the Georgia House of Representatives in November. Political newcomer Tony Patel (D) opposes him. The district includes parts of Alpharetta and Roswell.
