Barrington Hall, one of the City of Roswell’s three historic house museums, is currently looking for volunteers. Barrington Hall is located just off the square in historic Roswell. The following are examples of the volunteer positions:
Docents lead tours and share the story of the house. We are open seven days a week: Monday-Saturday tours are on the hour from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday tours are on the hour from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.
Education – We are developing educational programs for school groups and senior tours.
Research – Research documents at the Roswell Historical Society.
Special events – Events include Tea with Beatrix Potter, Mother’s Day Open House, the Candlelight Tour and Cooking Classes.
Gardening – Barrington Hall sits on 6.75 acres and contains many very old plants and trees. It is the only antebellum public garden in metro Atlanta. If you love to garden, this is a great opportunity to learn from and work alongside our Master Gardener.
Miscellaneous - Since the house has only been open a short time, we are still developing many plans. Maybe you have a skill or an idea that we haven’t even thought of yet.
Training is provided to all volunteers. The hours are very flexible and based on your availability.
Barrington Hall, built in 1842, was the home of Barrington King, who along with his father, Roswell King, co-founded the town of Roswell. The historic home has been diligently restored and is furnished with many original family possessions. The surrounding seven acres of grounds feature the only antebellum public garden in the greater Atlanta area. Barrington Hall is located at 535 Barrington Drive, Roswell, facing the square in historic Roswell. For more information, please call 770-640-3855.
