’Papa Nick’ hands some of his freshly squeezed lemonade to district 56 Senate candidate Akhtar Sadiq.

It was a Fourth of July party as only Alpharetta could throw, befitting the city’s 150th birthday. Throughout the afternoon, Wills Park began filling up slowly but surely with revelers and small BBQ grills. One attendee even brought a large tow-it-from-the-back-of-your-truck grill that looked too commercial for use at home. Or maybe he just likes his BBQ.

Also on hand were a variety of vendors selling everything from ribs at Shane’s Rib Shack to fresh lemonade at Papa Nick’s Lemonade and the Boiled Peanuts Van.

Bethany’s Beautiful Body Art always had a long line at its tent, giving quality face painting. Anna Rogers of Alpharetta is shown getting a flag on one cheek and a rocket on the other.

Every square inch of Wills Park was fair game for seating and grilling, including the baseball diamonds where children played kickball on the diamond while their parents lounged and ate in the outfield.
