What a difference a year makes.
The highly vaulted and much ballyhooed recruitment of Roswell Transportation Director Vasillios Andreou ended with his resignation amidst a cloud of controversy last week.
Heralded last year as a key coup for then newly appointed City Administrator Kay Love, Andreou joined Love’s staff at an annual salary of $113,000 and a $5,000 relocation bonus. Leaving a similar position in Virginia Beach, VA, Andreou was viewed by Roswell City Hall executives as the potential answer to the city’s nagging transportation planning woes.
That all ended last week, when Andreou resigned for “personal reasons.”
In fact, the Beacon has learned Andreou’s resignation was forced by charges of sexual harassment by a female employee. Love asked the Roswell Police Department to assist in the investigation, and their full report is not yet available.
Upon Andreou’s resignation, Love reportedly put a gag order on all City of Roswell employees, promising disciplinary action if anyone leaked the information.
Love herself refused comment on the situation. Community Information Manager Julie Brechbill, when pressed for specifics, refused to elaborate and questioned the validity of the investigation.
David Low has been named interim Transportation Director for Roswell.
