Call her tough, call her tenacious or call her a bulldog. She is a homebuyer’s relentless advocate and the toughest negotiator this side of the SALT II treaties.
Barbara Flam, of New Homes Realty, Inc. is the new breed of real estate agent. She only represents buyers. And she represents only the buyer’s best interest.
“When you contact a realtor that is selling or listing a home, they are being compensated by the seller. They have only the seller’s best interest at stake, not yours. I represent my buyers from the search right to the closing table. I find the dream home, negotiate the best deal, and get my buyers the best price.”
Flam knows how to advocate her buyer’s cause. Her mother was an Equal Rights Ammendment public advocate in the 1970’s. “My mom helped blaze a trail for women. I want to blaze a trail for home buyer’s,” Flam said.
Flam goes about her life and business with an unabashed sense of enthusiasm and passion. She is a tireless surrogate for her clients.
“Home purchasing is very emotional,” she said. “Your home is your family, your life. When you buy a home, in essence you are creating a new history for your life. When you walk in that front door for the first time it is my job to make sure you are 100 percent satisfied with every facet of your purchase, every step of the way.
“As an exclusive buyer’s agent, I have the unique ability to focus like a laser beam on the exclusive needs of my buyers – from selection to move in. I save them time, I save them money, and I take all of the anxiety out of negotiating with the seller. That is my job.” And quite a job she does.
“I know the market inside and out,” she said. “That is the first step in getting my buyers the best opportunity available.”
Flam does not charge a fee for her service, just the normal real estate commission standard for any area broker.
“My agreement can be for one day or one month,” Flam said. “I don’t believe in forcing people into real estate agreements for periods of time. If you like my first day’s work, you will stay on with me. It’s a win-win, and I really love my clients.”
Flam understands that, “some people are leery of real estate brokers these days, and I am hyper-sensitive to that.”
A journalism major originally from Ohio, Flam always wanted to effect change for the better.
“Now I can change the real estate landscape and the environment for my clients, my buyers,” she said. “I want to have a positive impact on the world in some way, and seeing a family get into their dream home, while knowing I played a role, is more gratifying than words can express.”
