On May 11, Alpharetta police were called to Mazzy’s sports bar on Alpharetta Highway in reference to an unruly customer. When police arrived, they found the suspect, Brad Brod, being held down by employees.

According to witnesses, the restaurant manager asked the extremely intoxicated Brod to leave the establishment several times. Brod responded to the request by sucker punching the manager in the stomach and then kicking him where the sun doesn’t shine. Even after receiving the shot to the groin, the manager was still able to wrestle Brod to the ground. Brod was arrested for simple battery.

Small and Shoeless
On May 6, Roswell police pulled over a vehicle that was driving erratically down Holcomb Bridge Rd. When the vehicle finally came to a stop in a nearby parking lot, the officer noted that the vehicle was parked unevenly, taking up two spaces.

The officer approached the suspect, identified as Crystal Shearer, and asked how much she had had to drink. Shearer stated, “Not a lot, I’m just trying to get some food.”

The officer then noticed that Shearer was shoeless, so he inquired as to her shoes’ whereabouts. Shearer said that Greg Armour, a Roswell Park Police officer, had taken them from her. The officer found this odd since Armour was nowhere near the scene and had not had any recent contact with Shearer.

When asked again how much she had to drink, Shearer replied “Three beers…but I’m a small girl.” When asked what being small had to do with anything, Shearer said, “Small people consume more alcohol.”

The officer decided that Shearer was not safe to drive and arrested her for DUI. As the officer placed Shearer in the patrol car, she continued to talk to the officer. She explained that she was “Coming to get food, so I could sober up (gosh darnit)… I wasn’t even this drunk.”
