Northwood Elementary School partnered with the City of Roswell and Keep Roswell Beautiful to create a mural of the Big Creek Wetlands that back up to the school property.  Ms. Randy Farley, Northwood’s art teacher worked with a group of thirteen third, fourth, and fifth graders to select wetland animals and plants, draw them and then paint them on the wall to create a depiction of the boardwalk into Big Creek Wetlands and some of the animals and plants you might see there.

Recently, Mayor Jere Wood, Councilman Jerry Orlans, Chairman of Keep Roswell Beautiful Ron Jackson and Stu Moring, Director of Roswell Public Works/Environmental honored the students and Farley during the mural’s unveiling.

The students’ artwork will be seen on the t-shirts for the Big Creek Wetlands Walk-a-thon and Festival on May 3, 2008 at the Northwood Elementary field.  The public is invited to come join the students in learning about Big Creek Wetlands and raising money to benefit Keep Roswell Beautiful.

For more information on the mural or the walk-a-thon call 770.641.3715 or go to www.keeproswellbeautiful.org.
