Alpharetta Department of Public Safety Announces a Town Hall Community Meeting

On Wednesday, March 5th, at 7 p.m., the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety is hosting a town hall meeting at the Public Safety Headquarters located at 2565 Old Milton Parkway, Alpharetta, Ga.


The topics of the meeting are Internet Safety, Identifying Predators, Victim and Offender Characteristics, Warning Signs, and the use of social networks such as AOL, Yahoo, MySpace, Facebook and other potential dangers. Detective John Robinson of the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigative Division also assigned to the FBI Safe Child Task Force will be a featured speaker and offer a presentation.


The guest speaker will be FBI Special Agent Mike Yoder. Special Agent Yoder has been with the FBI for more than eleven years. During that time he has worked Asian Organized Crime investigations, Mexican Drug Trafficking investigations and, most recently, for the past four years, he has worked Internet Crimes Against Children investigations. Mike works on the FBI’s Safe Child Task Force and is co-case agent of a group of agents and local police officers who are dedicated to investigating online sex predators. Part of his duties includes going undercover online and chatting with sex predators on their level. The ultimate goal is to arrest those who entice minors to engage in sexual acts. It also includes aggressively going after people who possess, distribute, and produce child pornography.
