After nearly two months of construction, Emory Johns Creek Cardiac Diagnostics has announced its grand reopening at 10700 Medlock Bridge Road in Johns Creek. It is the state’s only freestanding, outpatient heart catheterization lab. The EJCCD closed for construction updates on December 26, 2007 and reopened for patients on Monday, February 18, 2008.

The Cath Lab has been renovated and now includes the most up-to-date, technologically advanced equipment available. The lab features state-of-the-art equipment that allows physicians to perform extremely complex heart and vascular procedures with minimal surgery. “Very few centers have this latest imaging modality which increases the safety of procedures and allows physicians to make better decisions for their patients,” according to Dr. Khusrow Niazi, the medical director for Emory Johns Creek Cardiac Diagnostics. “Emory Johns Creek is leading the way for doctors to treat their patients locally in cardiovascular care,” he added.

The new equipment includes flat panel and 3-D technology that yields superior images and the ability to manipulate the images while decreasing the radiation and procedure time for the patient. “We are now able to offer instant reporting,” said Kathi Langlois, director of Emory Johns Creek Cardiac Diagnostics. The new equipment generates results immediately, eliminating the wait time between procedure and results.

“In addition to offering the highest technology to our patients, it’s important to us that we do all we can to minimize their anxiety levels,” said Langlois. “Anyone who has had a medical procedure done and had to wait for the results knows how stressful that can be,” she added. The staff at Emory Johns Creek Diagnostics is comprised of highly trained and specialized clinicians who are very experienced in invasive cardiovascular procedures.

Heart catheterizations are performed to determine whether a patient has blockages in their coronary arteries. Physicians use the test to identify, locate and assess the severity of any blockages in their patients.

“The re-opening of Emory Johns Creek Cardiac Diagnostics with this truly revolutionary technology is another step in our steadfast commitment to provide world class healthcare to the community,” said John Quinlivan, president and chief executive officer.
