Roswell’s Season Reaches the End of the Road

Hornets’ noble run is over

Long walk to the bus: with heads bowed and spirits deflated Roswell High's Kyle Watkins [88], left, Dominique Wheeler [1], Matt Cobb [72] and Ebele Okakpu leave Lowndes' Martin Stadium after the 31-20 playoff loss.

Roswell High’s football team made a strong run at a second straight state championship but it was not to be. After two playoff victories, the Hornets met their match in Lowndes County’s wing-T offense and fell Friday night in Valdosta, 31-20. The Hornets gave up a 56-yard touchdown run on the third play of the game and played catch-up the rest of the night. They finished 10-3.

With the game slipping away, defensive coordinator Leo Barker tries to rally his troops.

Several bus loads of Roswell fans made the trip to Valdosta to support the Hornets.
